Scaling Up Passive House in Milwaukee
May 15, 2024 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Free
Join us for a presentation of the Edison Tower project which is a 32-story mass timber apartment building in downtown Milwaukee also pursing Phius Certification. This presentation will cover how the Phius principles are applied to high-rise residential. We will cover the unique challenges that aren’t present on single family or low/mid-rise residential buildings. The discussion will include perspectives from the Designer, Developer, and CPHC to give a well rounded overview of the project.
Learning Objectives:
1. Load specific Phius challenges associated with high-rise residential
2. WUFI workflow for modeling centralized heating & cooling systems that aren’t air sourced heat pumps
3. A better understanding into hybrid mass timber structures
4. Areas to target for carbon reduction while still pursuing Phius
Presenters:
Scott Farbman, CPHC and MEP
Daniel Glaessl, Developer
Paul Alessandro, Architect
Jordan Komp, Structural Engineer
