SUMMARY:Phius Retrofit Summit Recap & Revive Program Update
DESCRIPTION:Tom Bassett-Dilley of TBDArchitects and Al Mitchell of Phius will recap the Phius Retrofit Summit and provide an update on the Phius Revive program. Tom will also present his 25-minute portion from the Summit. \nRegister to attend the Phius Retrofit Summit on Mar 21st & 23rd. \nAbout the Presenters \nTom Bassett-Dilley\nTom Bassett Dilley’s passion for architecture was kindled in high school when he found a book in the school library on Frank Lloyd Wright: those exuberant buildings harmonized with their sites were endlessly fascinating and inspiring. Shortly after he found Edward Mazria’s Passive Solar Energy Book\, whose practical techniques showed how to tune a building to climate. Tom spent a year at Taliesin West\, the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture\, continuing to Ball State University for undergrad and Columbia University for graduate work. He became a Certified Passive House Consultant in 2010 to learn advanced energy modeling\, building science\, and principles of conservation exemplified by the Passive House standard. He is a founding member and past President of the Chicago Phius Alliance Chicago Chapter\, and has presented numerous times for local audiences and at national conferences. Tom is an avid guitarist\, gardener\, and painter. He lives in Oak Park with his wife and their two children\, cats\, and dog. \nAl Mitchell\nAl Mitchell joined the Phius team in July 2020 to aid in technical capacities\, ranging from research to project certification. He holds degrees in architectural engineering and architecture from Illinois Tech and Ball State University respectively.
