DESCRIPTION:Our 2023 New Year’s Resolution is to spread our love of Passive Buildings. Learn the basics of the Phius building standard\, including Phius requirements\, tools used\, and unique construction methods. Join us to see why we feel Phius is the best building solution for reduced energy costs\, comfort\, and durability. \nWe will share the whys\, hows\, and examples of Passive House design and building in the United States. This presentation will provide a good baseline for those new to Passive House and will include the latest updates for those wanting a refresher. \nThis session is a must for architects\, builders\, real estate professionals\, those looking to buy or build\, or anyone interested in learning about the Passive House building standard. \nPresented by Phius Alliance Chicago board member Philip Schmidt\, Architect + Passive House Consultant from Figure Ground Architecture. \nAbout the Presenter \nPhilip has been a practicing architect in Chicago for 16 years. He was the Project Architect for Landon Bone Baker on Chicago’s first Multifamily Passive House project\, the LUCHA Tierra Linda 6-Flat in Humboldt Park. At Figure Ground\, he’s been focused primarily on upgrading our existing building stock through Deep Energy Retrofits for single family homes & large multifamily housing.
